Bill O’Reilly finished his career at Fox News involuntarily after the sexual harassment allegations. The host was terminated after spending twenty and something years at the network. Everybody knew that the Murdochs had other plans that in no way included O’Reilly. But, the host is now back, and Fox News may get its biggest competition pretty soon.
First, newspapers wrote about the story in which O’Reilly pays women to remain silent for what he did to them. Then, advertisers put an end to their “friendship” with O’Reilly. Eventually, the Murdoch family opened an internal investigation into the matter. O’Reilly was fired, and this actually helped him create something new.
Now O’Reilly is working with a producer that has just left Fox News. He is super thrilled about the new project, and promised that it will be a decent competition to top networks, including Fox.
O’Reilly didn’t make many public appearances after his termination, but he was part of the The Spin Stops Here Tour. He used the opportunity to talk about his future plans, adding that the new network could be a direct opponent of Fox News.
“There could be a new network. A bunch of people are looking to compete with Fox because there’s a perception of decline. I am starting my own operation. We are going to do that. We will go into a studio and here it will look like ‘The Factor.’ It’s basically an experiment to see how many people are going to want this service. That’s coming and will be here before September in a robust form. But I suspect there will be another network maybe merging with us. There will be a network that rises up because the numbers for Fox are going down,” O’Reilly explained.
What do you think about O’Reilly’s network? Are the Murdochs worried about their new competitor?
